Population growth and extensive development in the Santa Monica Bay Watershed have led to severe degradation of the local environment. Water quality, natural habitats, and living resources have all suffered. It is important that we recognize the damage done and understand the various causes in order to properly protect and restore the Bay over the years to come.
At the same time, we also need to be familiar with the solutions that can make a positive impact on the Bay. Government agencies and environmental organizations are currently engaged in numerous projects that seek to do just that. Also included here are some suggestions for simple changes in our daily routines that can make a difference on our local environment.
