THE SMBRC currently administers two grant programs designed to help restore and protect Santa Monica Bay: the Public Involvement and Education (PIE) Mini-Grants Program and the Santa Monica Bay Proposition 12 Grant Program.
The PIE Program
The PIE program provides funds for outreach projects to help educate Los Angeles County residents about pollution and habitat restoration issues in Santa Monica Bay. Typical maximum grant awards range between $10,000 - $15,000. Join our Mailing List if you would like to be notified when the next application period opens. To learn more about the program and how to apply for funding, visit the PIE page.
Santa Monica Bay Proposition 12 Grant Program
In March 2000, California voters passed Proposition 12, the "Safe Neighborhood Parks, Clean Water, Clean Air, and Coastal Protection Bond Act." This bond earmarked $25 million for Santa Monica Bay restoration and pollution prevention efforts - specifically, on the ground habitat restoration and pollution prevention projects as well as research that helps implement the Bay Restoration Plan. To date, $15 million has been allocated to more than 30 different projects. Another $10 million will be allocated in a future round(s). Join our Mailing List if you would like to be notified when the next application period opens.
As we become aware of other environmental and educational grant opportunities, we will post them on our News and Events page. Be sure to check back regularly to see what other regional, state, and federal grant opportunities may be available.
